In recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Court Appointed Special Advocates and The Temple School of Social Work invite you to a documentary screening of this powerful documentary followed by a discussion session with the subject of the film. For 14 years Norman Jr. has happily raised his four daughters with his wife Danny, in New Jersey. However pent-up childhood trauma from witnessing his mother’s brutal murder, at the young age of six, forces him to travel to Jamaica to confront the father he hasn’t seen since the day of the murder, more than 30 years before. Weaving together intimate verité footage with probing interviews, we follow Norman’s journey to discovering the truth behind the tragic crime that has shaped his entire life. Insightful, moving and empathetic, NORMAN/NORMAN offers a complex exploration of guilt, vulnerability, reconciliation and the transformative power of forgiveness and love. Following the viewing Norman will join us for a question and answer session.
