Shannon Sherwood, Esq., Staff Attorney, Support Center for Child Advocates and Happi Grillon, MSW, Executive Director, CASA of Philadelphia County will lead us through a case based discussion. Using a case study the training OBJECTIVES are to:

1. Understand the professional responsibilities of child welfare professionals in navigating conflicts and consent.

2. Increase comfort with navigating conflicts that arise in the roles of attorney and child advocate and the roles of parent and child.

3. Increase understanding of when consent must be obtained, and by whom, in areas of judicial bypass, medical treatment, behavioral health treatment, and education.

Continuing Education Credits Available:

1.5 Continuing Education Units* (CEUs) for PA licensed Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, and Marriage and Family Therapists and 1.5 Continuing Legal Education (CLEs) for PA licensed Attorneys (0.5 Ethics / 1.0 Substantive) provided by the Support Center for Child Advocates.

Support Center for Child Advocates, Center for Excellence in Advocacy is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors to offer continuing education for social workers, marriage and family therapists and professional counselors.
