EDM Training for CASA Volunteers (Open to Volunteers Only)

4:00pm - 6:00pm

Are you a CASA volunteer who would like to train to be an Educational Decision Maker (EDM) volunteer?  Join us on Thursday, April 27. 2017 for our EDM training.

An Educational Decision Maker (EDM) volunteer is an individual who has been appointed by the court to serve as the legal “parent” for children in out-of-home care who do not have a parent willing, able, or available to make educational decisions on their behalf.  An EDM volunteer advocates on behalf of a child’s educational needs by fulfilling the legal parental role for making education decisions on behalf of the child, including educational services.  An EDM volunteer is afforded all of the rights of a parent of a child who is enrolled in school in either regular or special education services.

Volunteers will earn 2 hours of in-service training credits for attending this training.

Please RSVP to Program Director Cynthia Mason at cynthia.mason@casaphiladelphia.org if you would like to attend this training.
